What is Cornell Alpha Fund Club?

Cornell Alpha Fund Club is one of the oldest finance groups on Cornell’s campus. Members will gain financial knowledge through the new member education program as well as gain access to one of the best financial networks at the University. Members will also learn critical skills on how to pitch investments across various industry sectors.

Cornell Alpha Fund Club manages a student-run real-money portfolio and invests in public equities in 7 sectors: Consumer & Retail, Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Industrials, Healthcare, Technology Media and Telecom (TMT), Special Situations, and REGAL.

Our 10-week education program covers various areas of the financial services industry with three key components.

  1. Investment banking essentials of accounting, valuations, M&A, and capital markets

  2. Value investing strategies, including merger arbitrage, convertible arbitrage, special situations investing, activist investing, and distressed investing

  3. Professional Development skills enhanced through coffee chats with members and workshops for networking emails and resume
